Vibration on acceleration

If your vehicle is equipped with front wheel drive like a Honda Accord,  or all wheel drive like Subaru models, then your vehicle has front drive axles or CV axles (constant velocity joints).     Those drive axles transmit power from the transmission to each wheel.   The axles allow the front wheels to turn left and right and move up and down with suspension movement while still delivering the torque.   As the axles wear in the joint area, you might develop a vibration only while accelerating. We see this frequently on Subaru, Honda and Toyota models.   If you’ve noticed a similar vibration, notice if it goes away as soon as you decelerate.   If so most likely your axle joints are getting near the end of there service life.    On Honda, Subaru and Toyota  and most makes and models this isn’t a very expensive repair.  Usually in the 200 to 300 hundred dollar range per axle.

Another problem we see is  axle boots splitting, allowing grease to sling out and potentially dirt to enter the joint area.  Axle boots can be replaced on most makes and models without replacing the entire shaft assembly.   Just have your shop make sure the axle is in good shape before investing in boot replacement, because many times it’s not much more money to replace the axle assembly.cv axle
